The Army's premier unconventional warfare force. Green Berets specialize in foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, and counter-terrorism.
SFAS (Special Forces Assessment & Selection)
Attrition: ~65-75%
The Army's premier direct-action raid force. Rangers are the most deployed unit in the US military, specializing in airfield seizure, special reconnaissance, and personnel recovery.
RASP (Ranger Assessment & Selection Program)
Attrition: ~60%
The Navy's premier special operations force. SEALs conduct special reconnaissance, direct action, and counter-terrorism operations in maritime, jungle, desert, arctic, and urban environments.
BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL)
Attrition: ~80-90%
Includes Pararescue (PJ), Combat Controllers (CCT), Special Reconnaissance (SR), and TACP. PJs are the most decorated combat medics; CCTs direct air strikes from the ground.
AFSPECWAR A&S (Assessment & Selection)
Attrition: ~50-80%
The Marine Corps' special operations force. Marine Raiders conduct direct action, special reconnaissance, and foreign internal defense as part of SOCOM.
MARSOC A&S (Assessment & Selection)
Attrition: ~60-70%
The Army's Tier 1 special missions unit. Delta Force conducts the most sensitive counter-terrorism and hostage rescue operations worldwide. Candidates must already be in a SOF or conventional unit.
Delta S&A (Selection & Assessment)
Attrition: ~90%
The Navy's Tier 1 special missions unit. DEVGRU conducts the most sensitive counter-terrorism operations. Candidates must already be experienced Navy SEALs.
Green Team
Attrition: ~50%
The Army's premier leadership school. A 62-day course testing small unit tactics, leadership under extreme fatigue and caloric deficit. Open to all branches.
Ranger School (RAP Week + 3 Phases)
Attrition: ~50-60%
Three-week course at Fort Benning teaching static-line parachute operations. Prerequisite for many SOF pipelines.
Airborne School (3 Weeks)
Attrition: ~15-20%
28-day combat engineer leadership course. Tests demolitions, route clearance, and leadership under extreme conditions. One of the Army's toughest schools.
Sapper Leader Course
Attrition: ~50-60%
7-week course teaching advanced marksmanship, fieldcraft, stalking, and observation. Produces the Army's designated marksmen and snipers.
Sniper School
Attrition: ~40-50%
10-week entry-level training transforming civilians into soldiers. Covers weapons, tactics, physical fitness, and military discipline.
BCT (Basic Combat Training)
Attrition: ~10-15%
13-week boot camp — the longest and most physically demanding basic training in the US military. Culminates in The Crucible, a 54-hour field exercise.

19-week training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM. One of the most physically demanding federal LE programs, covering immigration law, Spanish, and desert operations.
